This product is NOT recommended for new designs.
Note: EtherNet/IP (Ethernet Industrial Protocol) is a specific application layer protocol used in advanced industrial automation environments and is not short-hand for Ethernet Internet Protocol. Grid Connect engineers are available to answer your EtherNet/IP questions.
Bridge the protocols of Modbus RTU/ASCII and EtherNet/IP with a Grid Connect integrated embedded device server. The XPort-EIP-MB is an intelligent RJ45 connector with Modbus master and EtherNet/IP slave software built-in. Integrate this compact XPort-EIP-MB with custom Grid Connect firmware to your printed circuit board design to convert a Modbus RTU/ASCII serial TTL port to an EtherNet/IP interface.
The XPort-EIP-MB is configured using standard EtherNet/IP explicit messaging from any EtherNet/IP configuration tool (not included). During configuration, Modbus register data is mapped to EtherNet/IP assembly data. Meaning after the XPort-EIP-MB is integrated, the end-product appears to be an EtherNet/IP slave with all Modbus Serial communications hidden from the end-user.
The XPort-EIP-MB supports Modbus RTU/ASCII TTL serial connections with data rates up to 231 kbps. A standard RJ45 network connection supports auto-sensing 10BASE-T and 100BASE-TX Ethernet. Ideal for industrial applications, the XPort-EIP-MB is powered by +3.3 Volts and has an extended -40ºC to +85ºC temperature range.
Grid Connect also offers a finished versions of the XPort-EIP-MB. The NET485-EIP-MB is a panel/DIN rail mountable Modbus Serial to EtherNet/IP adapter.
